What does the Bible say/not say regarding Satan?
Had someone in our small group ask the question -
when did Satan come to earth? before Adam or after??
Where can I find answers for them?
Thanks
JL
JL,
It's interesting question isn't it?
Firstly, the Bible doesn't say Satan fell in relation to the creation of Adam.
That's the simple answer.
The longer answer involves establishing the known facts about Satan.
(i) We know that Satan was an angel who rebelled and was cast down to earth.
(ii) We presume that 1/3 of the angels went with Satan.
(iii) We also presume that God had confidence in Adam to deal with Satan's presence.
(iv) When God looked at the earth He had created up until the creation of Adam He declared it "good", and after the creation of Adam and Eve He declared it "very good". Perhaps we could similarly presume that since it was "very good" at the time of Adam and Eve's creation there was no trace of rebellion on the landscape. Therefore, it's reasonable that Satan was not yet on earth during the creation week.
Hope this helps.

But is Young Earth Creationism built upon a faulty hermeneutic?

Is The Trinity Tradition or Truth? Evangelical Christians claim that the doctrine of the Trinity is the touchstone of Biblical Christianity. Others argue that it is a side issue, not a central issue. Still others claim that it is not a Biblical issue at all! It is, they state, a pagan tradition which has no place in Scripture. How can we resolve this dilemma and discover the Biblical truth about this issue? [more] |
The Wonder of Narnia The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe is a part of CS Lewis's THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA. It is a masterpiece of Christian allegory and one of the greatest literary depictions of God's plan of redemption. But many readers may miss some of this rich symbollism and its meaning. [more] |
